Cannot See, Say, or Hear

2018 | Fox Bones, Cotton, Silk Chiffon

From medieval times up until the mid 17th century it was common practice to turn up old cemeteries and catacombs, and use the bones in the construction of ossuaries and chapels all around Europe. These ossuaries used the human bones as an architectural decoration, effectively ascending those who had died to a higher destination than they were when on Earth.

In looking into these ossuaries, I found the patterns and geometrical forms made to be quite pleasing, and almost camouflaged so the viewer has to take second look at the ornamentation. I then decided to see how this could translate into a set of fashion objects.
