Aaron Sobetski is an artist, fashion designer, historian and storyteller living and working out of London. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, his work derives a great deal of inspiration from the American Midwest, and tradition in a modernising world. Pulling from primary source research, he often utilizes historical extant textiles and techniques in the construction of his uniquely contemporary designs. By giving these textiles a new chapter in their life, he strives to bring back individual identity in each garment. He received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, with an emphasis in Fashion Design and Art History, in 2020. He also received his MA from the Victoria & Albert Museum and Royal College of Art in their History of Design Programme in 2023. For this, he wrote a dissertation on the coronation, and specifically the garments utilised during the ceremony, for King Charles III. More on this research, and other themes of dandyism, pantomime, and tobacciana from his time at the V&A/RCA can be found here.
