AARON SOBETSKI
Aaron Sobetski is an artist, designer, and historian currently based in London. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, his work derives a great deal of inspiration from the American Midwest and its history with Folk Art. Pulling from primary source research, he often utilizes historical extant textiles and techniques in the construction of his uniquely contemporary designs. By giving these textiles a new chapter in their life, he strives to bring back individual identity in each garment. Overall, he wants to make garments that are cherished. Slow fashion aims to extend the life of extant textiles, and give new urgency to what is salvageable.
He received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, with an emphasis in Fashion Design and Art History, in 2020. He is currently working on his MA at the Royal College of Art in their V&A/RCA History of Design Programme.
